Fuel is a blog designed to encourage people to think about their faith. It’s also a space where I share my thoughts on the Christian life.
I’m a student at Tabor College NSW in the Sydney suburb of Miranda studying a Bachelor of Ministry part time. I’m pursuing God’s call to become a pastor in the Christian Church (and I will be very interested to know what a “pastor” looks like in this post-everything age once I’m done with college in a few years time).
I’m also a freelance journalist, speaker and digital media consultant, having spent a total of 10 years in the technology trade press and mainstream media. I am the former IT Editor of The Australian Financial Review. You can read my work-related blog here.
I was born and bred on Sydney’s North Shore, where I still live with my wife of 12 years and our two amazing children. I’ve been a Christian since age 17, and I’m more passionate about my faith now than I’ve ever been, or imagined I would ever be. And that’s another story.
So why write a deeply personal blog about the Christian faith? A few reasons, I guess. I got thinking about the idea when it was suggested to me by a few media industry colleages who were curious about my story – they said I should write a “faith blog”. It’s also for interested family and friends.
And beyond that, Jesus is recorded as telling Christians we are not meant to keep our stories to ourselves – the analogy is that a city on a hill cannot be hidden (check out Matthew ch 5: 13-16). So if Jesus did it, said it, or asked it of me, I’m there.

Hey Phebe! Actually I’ve not yet started pastoring a church. I’m still in study mode! But there are plenty of things happening here in Sydney. It would be fantastic to see you both… I can put you in touch with people etc.
